Clay-Wood-Winds ocarinas are hand built, and individually voiced and tuned to maximize intonation and musicality. No potentially dangerous substances are used in any glaze that comes in contact with the player’s mouth. Please note that due to the variability in the raku firing process, no two ocarinas look identically alike.

Our ocarinas are produced in four sizes: Sopranino, Soprano, Alto, and Tenor. These ocarinas utilize the four hole ocarina fingering system. The Sopranino and Soprano produce a full chromatic octave (13 notes); the Alto and Tenor ocarinas produce a chromatic octave, plus two notes above octave, or a total of 15 notes. An instructional brochure with fingering diagrams and a brief history of the instrument is provided with each ocarina. Clay-Wood-Winds also publishes and sells a spiral bound Songbook for Four Hole Ocarina with fingering diagrams for the notes to twenty-eight familiar Anglo-American folk songs.
